SHAPE UKRAINE 2015. FIRST UKRAINIAN GLOBAL SHAPERS MEETING IN ODESSA
On December, 12-13, Odessa Hub hosted first meeting of Ukrainian members of the Global Shapers community #ShapeUkraine. The main aim of the event was to promote the shapers community, network and discuss opportunities for cooperation.
The geography of the #ShapeUkraine meeting has been somewhat expanded beyond the borders of Ukraine. Shapers from Odessa, Kyiv, Vilnius and Minsk took part in the first meeting.
#ShapeUkraine consisted of two parts, splited in two days. Firt day was an open part and everyone can join `Pecha-Kucha Night: Think Global, Act Local` event.
Shapers have presented to a large audience their projects and ideas in Impact Hub Odessa in a popular format - Pecha-Kucha, which is translated from Japanese as "blah-blah-blah", "chatter", or "sounds of conversation". Speakers doesn't have more than 7 minutes for the presentation which is visualized by 20 slides in an automatic mode shifting pictures every 20 seconds. Slides proceed automatically, so there can't be anything like "next slide, please" or "can we go back?". The "Pecha-Kucha 20x20" format allowed to make shapers' presentations short and dynamic.
Presentations concerned important and urgent topics like the youth movement, new technologies, informal education and urbanistics. After every presentation guests of the conference had a possibility to ask questions and exchange ideas. Among the guests representatives of social organizations, educational institutions and youth organizations were present.
The second day was devoted to Shapers community development in Ukraine.
WorldCafe's format was a one-day workshop for creating a Ukrainian agenda and determinating questions for improving inner and outer communications, constructing general objectives and the development of the Ukrainian component of the World Economic Forum.

City Alumni is a platform which connects people with a goal to realize common projects in improving the urban enviroment in 50 Lithuanian cities and villages. The main message of the project: no matter where you are living now - in Kopenhagen or in Brussels - remember of your town and put something into its development.
"The first step will always be the hardest part. I am fascinated how amazing was our first shaper meeting in Odessa. An idea to unite Ukrainian shapers, Ukrainian leaders and activists in one place, which came to us with Nastya and Taras not a while ago already establihed a beautiful and successful result. Although Kyiv Hub wasn't presented in its full consistency but it managed to fully taste all the benifits and the unusual nature of synergy which we have obtained during two days in Odessa. I'm sure that together we are power, and power means changes and transformations which we proceed for a long period of time. Thank you, Odessa-mama, now go, UA Shapers, go", - curator of Kyiv Hub Olga Stolarchuk.
These were two beautiful days that energized and inspirated and showed that we need to meet more often. Special thanks to our partner Impact Hub Odessa for the support.
Next #Shape Ukraine will be hosted by Lviv Hub and you are more than welcome to join.
